Visit Hale’iwa Town
Rich with island history, Haleʻiwa is the social and artistic hub of the North Shore. The town’s architecture reflects its early 1900’s sugar industry period and is home to 30 historical buildings; including the Wailua Sugar Mill. Now it’s known primarily as a surfing town and is an excellent place to visit for shopping and a variety of dining options.
The Polynesian Cultural Center is the highest rated luau on Oahu for a reason. It is a high quality production that highlights real Polynesian culture and includes a traditional Hawaiian feast rooted in centuries-old practice. The “Ali’i Luau/Buffet” and the “Breath of Life Show” are the highlight offerings. Book tickets months in advance for the best options as they will sell out several weeks ahead of time.
Kualoa Ranch offers a variety of tours that are both entertaining and educational. The “Movie Sites & Ranch Tour” and the “Ocean Voyage” Tour are our personal favorites. It’s is recommended to book tours weeks to months in advance as they are popular and do sell out.
From Golf Digest to the Champions Tour to the LPGA Tour to the Hawaii State Open to Golf Channel’s The Big Break, Turtle Bay’s golf courses are world renowned.
Though there are many surf schools on the island, we cannot recommend Hawaii Waves Surf School highly enough. Locally owned and operated, they will teach you how to surf no matter your skill level.
Blue Planet Adventure Co rents stand-up paddle boards and kayaks to explore the Anahulu Stream in Hale’iwa. The Anahulu Stream, where you can often spot turtles hanging out, is a great paddle for beginners or when ocean and wind conditions are not optimal. When the waves are big in the winter on the North Shore, you can even try your hand at SUP surfing.
Climb Works Ziplining offers ziplines, sky bridges, and ATV rides around Keana Farms. Along the way of your zipline tour you’ll learn about Hawaii history, culture, and farming with educational exhibits set up along the tour.
